In January of 2026, I collaborated with Willow And Wren Publishing to produce a pictorial of a cross section of my work through the years. This book features high quality images of my work and stories about each piece. As my Christian faith is a large part of my life and work, each painting I produce is assigned a Bible verse reference that coincides with the image. The prints I make available, have the option of having the verse reference on the print on the buyer's request. The book gives the reader not only information about each piece but perhaps more importantly the Inspiration behind my work. New Painting: Windows of Home
My latest painting was completed in March of 2026. It is a commissioned piece titled “Windows of Home”. It is a watercolor/gouache painting of a rural setting at sunset that captures the warm and inviting charm of rural northern Minnesota. It’s a piece that is appealing and relatable to any collector whether from the country or a cosmopolitan background. Artist Statement
Living in Minnesota, we have so much beauty right in our backyards or within driving distance and much of the scenery includes water. It's hard not to take a scenic image here that doesn’t have a lake, river, or pond as a central part of it. While not all of my paintings have had water in them and not all of my paintings are Minnesota images; most of my work is from Minnesota and does include water. Being a watercolor artist, water is always a part of my work no matter if it is depicted in the images or not.
For this reason; it is only natural to adopt the theme Water-Colors by Rick as the theme by which to identify what I do in painting. My ultimate goal is to better represent the magnificent creation all around us, and moreover… its magnificent creator.
